| US News: Georgia man convicted of aiding terror groups |
|
Solomon writes " By GREG BLUESTEIN, Associated Press Writer Greg Bluestein, Associated Press Writer – Thu Aug 13, 2:08 am ET
ATLANTA – A 23-year-old Georgia man was convicted Wednesday of aiding terrorist groups by sending videotapes of U.S. landmarks overseas and plotting to support "violent jihad" after a federal jury rejected his arguments that it was empty talk.
The jury found Ehsanul Islam Sadequee guilty of all four charges he faced after about five hours of deliberations. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison and his sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 15."

(CNSNews.com) - Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection may be able to explain how living creatures can evolve from one form to another, but it cannot explain how something that was not alive evolved into the first life on Earth.
Stephen C. Meyer, a Cambridge trained scholar in the philosophy of science, does have an explanation for how life on Earth began: the DNA in every cell of every creature shows unmistakable evidence of having been deliberately designed by an intelligent being.

Got questions about life, death, politics or religion? How about one on the topic of "gay" marriage?

It's time for WWDD.
That's not a typo on the familiar WWJD -- "What Would Jesus Do?" -- a theme among Christians. It stands for "What Would Dumbledore Do?" a new move to answer such questions and spark "social change" through the "teachings" available in the Harry Potter witchcraft books and movies. The campaign has begun specifically promoting "gay" marriage.

| World News: Somali Islamists Cut Off Hands and Feet of 4 Thieves |
|
MOGADISHU, Somalia — An Islamic court in Somalia on Thursday cut off a hand and foot from each of four men convicted of stealing phones and guns, drawing hundreds of onlookers as the weeping men were punished at a military camp.
The Shariah court that carried out the sentences is run by the powerful insurgent group al-Shabab, which is trying to topple Somalia's U.N.-backed government and install a strict form of Islam.
"The men were bleeding and crying when the man cut their hands and feet off with a long knife," said one witness, Liban Ali. Journalists were not allowed to cover the sentencing. The four were convicted earlier this week in the capital, Mogadishu.

Michael Jackson, pop star for nearly 5 decades, (since he was 5) died today. The paramedics were contacted after Michael suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed in his home. He was found in a state of comatose and was not breathing when paramedics arrived on the scene. Immediate action was taken to deliver CPR, in an attempt to revive him, which continued in route to the UCLA hospital where cardiologists and other specialists did all they could, but all efforts proved to be futile and at age 50, "The King of Pop" has died.
A tragic end to a tragic life. Another who will be remembered and missed by many.
